Connecting Through Art
Since 1975, The Harding Art Show has brought together the greater Nashville community for a weekend of art and celebration. The 2016 Harding Art Show successfully continued this tradition last May as thousands of guests enjoyed meeting 70 artists during the three-day fine art sale. Proceeds from the event benefited Harding Academy student programs and campus improvements.
A vibrant mix of 70 local, regional, and nationally renowned artists brought paintings, sculpture, photography, drawings, wood works, jewelry, and more to The 2016 Harding Art Show. Nearly half the artists were new to the show, and participants traveled from 12 different states to Nashville to showcase their work at the event. Look for our 2017 Artist Application on Zapplication between August 1, 2016 and November 1, 2016.
For the first time in the history of the event, The Harding Art Show was pleased to feature three unique artists, one for each day of the show. For the Opening Reception on May 5, Herb Williams collaborated with Harding students to create a one-of-a-kind outdoor installation of crayon sculpture among the trees on campus. On Friday, May 6, Alex Beard met with students in the morning and guests of the show in the evening to discuss how his art benefits The Watering Hole Foundation to preserve elephant habitats in Africa; taught a painting class; and offered his unique abstract naturalism works for sale. May 7 was Family Day, when Adrien Saporiti shared his colorful paintings and prints and created a hieroglitches mural, to which guests of the show added their own touch.
Harding Academy is grateful to its donors and corporate sponsors, without whom The Harding Art Show would not be possible.
